Traditional & Modern Slate Roofing

Slate is one of the longest-lasting roof coverings available, but it depends on accurate setting out and careful fixing. JRB installs and repairs both traditional natural slate and modern natural or artificial slate roofs.

In Tunbridge Wells, Kent, we completed a new slate roof while coordinating closely with a separate solar installation team, who installed the panels. Planning the roof covering around the solar system gave a neat, weatherproof finish.

What's included

  • New natural slate and artificial slate roofs
  • Re-slating traditional roofs
  • Replacing slipped and broken slates
  • Lead valleys, flashings and abutments
  • Coordinating roofing works with other trades, including separate solar installers

Our approach

Traditional vs modern slate

Traditional slate roofs on older buildings call for different detailing from a crisp modern slate finish. We identify which you have and work accordingly.

Working alongside other trades

Where panels or other roof equipment are being fitted by another company, we plan the roofing around them. JRB does not supply or install solar panels.

Common questions

Should I choose natural or artificial slate?

Natural slate offers a very long life and authentic appearance; artificial slate can be lighter and more economical. The right choice depends on the property, budget and any planning considerations.
